KB-ID Studio and Warwick Perrin collaborate on new fixtures collection

Citrine is a new Melbourne-made collection of decorative hardware fixtures inspired by the peel of a lime.

The new range from interior direction practice KB-ID Studio is a collaboration that uses the unique cast bronze craft of local artist Warwick Perrin

Inspired by organic textures, Perrin’s work combines digital manipulation and additive manufacturing to create intricate, rippling designs.

“I first noticed Warwick’s work while sourcing for an upcoming shoot and loaned one of his original bowls, which I completely fell in love with,” KB-ID Studio creative director Karin Bochnik tells ADR

“He later visited the studio to show me some of his new work and pieces he had been experimenting with, and I just knew I wanted us to work together.”

This eventually, “very organically”, led to the creation of Citrine, says Bochnik. The duo worked together to meticulously create a range that blends form and function and resembles “jewellery for the home”.

The Citrine collection

The collection includes a variety of pieces, each hand-cast in bronze and finished with a unique patina. Under the studio’s creative direction, Perrin adapted his stylistic approach slightly and introduced different polishing methods to bring out the details and broaden the product offering.

Each piece is suitable for both residential and commercial settings, designed to enhance joinery in unique ways. Bochnik envisions them adorning statement furniture pieces such as sideboards, bars, bedside tables or perfume cabinets. “The sky’s the limit,” she says.

“The ZL.1 handle is my personal favourite. It’s perfectly organic with just the right amount of polish, like a bespoke piece of jewellery for the home. I’m really into irregular shapes, so for me, I actually like the asymmetry of combining round and oval shapes in one piece of furniture or room. For example, I’m replacing the finger pulls on my wardrobe with a mix of the two shapes in the small size, and I think it’s so special.”

Citrine marks KB-ID’s first artist collaboration under its new venture ‘Curated Editions’.

“We’re thrilled to work closely with talented makers to create more editions of functional objects that add value to everyday living,” says Bochnik.
