The deadline for entries to the annual design competition closed on 25 May and, sorting through the piles of submissions, the organisers are thrilled to announce that so many people have been motivated to become involved, with entries to IDEA up 16 percent year on year. This is especially pleasing when many are proclaiming this to be a time of doom and gloom for the industry.

“We are happy to see this increase, as it shows that Australian designers and architects have work on and work that they feel is suitable for entry into an awards program,” says IDEA organiser Vivienne Forbes.

“We are looking forward to the shortlisting process and judging them at the Jury Days on 20 and 21 August at the Austral Bricks Showroom, in Swan Street, Richmond,” she adds.
