As one of Australia’s most inspiring design destinations, Cult champions authentic, high-quality craftsmanship from both international and local designers. With a carefully curated selection that includes Danish icons such as Fritz Hansen, Carl Hansen and Louis Poulsen, alongside its own Australian design brand nau, Cult has become synonymous with exceptional ultra-contemporary design.
With the addition of Patryk Koca’s Boardwalk Boardwalk collection, Cult leans into its commitment to offering Australian architects, designers and design enthusiasts a sophisticated, sustainable and locally inspired furniture range that seamlessly integrates into contemporary living.
Designed by Sydney-based designer Patryk Koca, the Boardwalk Collection is a refined and versatile furniture range that beautifully expresses Koca’s commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship, and lends a contemporary yet timeless aesthetic to residential and commercial interiors alike.
Drawing from Australia’s coastal landscapes, Koca infused the Boardwalk Collection with the essence of exploration and discovery. “My surroundings, experiences, the natural environment, my connection to art and culture, and the people around me are my daily inspiration,” Koca explains. “Boardwalks are an iconic feature of Australia’s east coast, connecting us to nature and enriching our lifestyles. Whether wandering through Urunga’s mangroves, whale-watching south of Sydney, or exploring Merimbula’s oyster farms, they inspire connection and discovery.”
This sense of movement and integration with nature is reflected in the collection’s fluid lines and carefully considered proportions, echoing the deliberate, flowing forms of timber pathways.
Crafted from solid wood, light-filtering rattan and inviting upholstery, the Boardwalk Collection prioritises durability and comfort and encourages relaxation. Each piece is designed to offer a tactile and visual richness that enhances a variety of interior spaces.
“Somewhat unintentionally, I’m now identified as a designer of wooden products,” Koca remarks. “It’s the most proven and versatile natural material, used for millennia, that offers a positive charge to any interior.” His meticulous approach to material selection ensures that each piece balances aesthetics with longevity.
Sustainability is a key pillar of Koca’s practice, and the Boardwalk Collection reflects this commitment through ethical production processes and eco-conscious material choices. “Creating products using ethical and sustainable methods with timeless value is becoming increasingly important,” Koca says. By championing responsible sourcing and thoughtful craftsmanship, Koca ensures that the Boardwalk Collection aligns with contemporary sustainability expectations without compromising on design integrity.
Designed to transition effortlessly between residential and commercial settings, the Boardwalk Collection includes adaptable pieces suited to living rooms, offices and hospitality spaces. The collection’s refined simplicity ensures each piece functions as both a statement and a complement to diverse interior styles.
The Boardwalk Chair is available in multiple configurations, including a classic dining chair, a relaxed dining chair with arms and an elegant stool. Offering a selection of solid timber, rattan, or upholstered seat and backrest options, the chair is customisable to suit a variety of aesthetics and functional needs.
With sculpted leg detailing that subtly evokes coastal cliffs, the Boardwalk Table is designed to captivate. Its strong stance and bold detailing make it an immediate conversation starter, while its corner-leg placement maximises seating capacity, ensuring both form and function are considered in equal measure.
The Boardwalk Collection is now available through Cult showrooms across Australia.
