Global floor manufacturer, Interface has showed its commitment to Australian-made production with a multimillion-dollar investment at its manufacturing facility at Minto, NSW.
The move comes as part of the company’s strategy to improve quality, efficiency and sustainability for its carpet tile operations worldwide. The upgrade to the South West Sydney plant includes the installation of a new state-of-the-art packaging line and an advanced yarn preparation system.
The company says the improvements will reinforce its focus on manufacturing excellence while supporting leadership in design, performance and environmental responsibility.
Mark Dixon, Interface’s operations director – ANZ, says the investment ensures the company can continue that legacy while adapting to changing customer and market demands.
“We have been producing carpet tile locally in South West Sydney for more than 50 years,” Dixon says. “This strategic investment helps us continue that legacy and meet our customers’ needs, provide career opportunities for our employees, and stay true to our sustainability commitments.”

Several elements of the project are already underway, with most of the new equipment expected to be operational in the first half of 2026.
Once completed, the upgrades are expected to:
The new technology will also give Interface greater flexibility as its product designs and colour palettes become more complex, allowing the company to manage a broader and more intricate carpet tile portfolio.

The investment underpins Interface’s ‘Made in Australia’ commitment, aimed at delivering locally manufactured products with faster turnaround times and a reduced environmental footprint. By improving production efficiency and cutting material waste, the company expects to further lower the environmental impact of its operations.
The move also supports Interface’s long-term sustainability target of becoming carbon negative by 2040, positioning the Minto facility as a key contributor to the company’s global climate ambitions.
