Australia’s small practice architects are at the forefront of this year’s ArchiTeam 2025 Awards, with finalists revealed ahead of a vibrant November celebration in Collingwood.
ArchiTeam has revealed the finalists for its 18th annual awards program, marking a new chapter in the celebration of Australia’s small practice architects. The winners will be announced on 19 November at the ArchiTeam Awards Night at 14 Langridge in the inner Melbourne suburb of Collingwood.
With more than three decades of history, ArchiTeam has long championed the role of small practice architects across the country. Its cooperative model is run by members for members, with a clear mission to empower and support small practices to thrive. More than 1000 members now form this national community, making the awards a powerful platform to showcase the breadth and brilliance of their work.
The 2025 jury brings together leading figures from across Australia’s architectural landscape. The panel includes ArchiTeam Awards chair Michael Roper of Architecture architecture in Victoria, Thomas Bailey of Room 11 in Tasmania, Jemima Retallack of Retallack Thompson Architects in New South Wales, Anita Panov of Panov—Scott, Andrew Steele of Studio Nine in South Australia, Monique Woodward of WOWOWA, Andrew Klenke of Swanbury Penglase Architects, media judge Clémence Carayol, and ArchiTeam Awards director Wesley Spencer.
This year’s program includes categories spanning Residential Alterations and Additions, Residential New, Commercial, Community and Public, Unbuilt, Innovation and Contribution, and the inaugural Heritage Award. The Australian Passivhaus Association will again support the Passivhaus Scholarship, while Design Democracy’s graphic identity for the program pays tribute to the new Heritage Award category, proudly supported by National Trust of Australia (Victoria) and Australian Council of National Trusts.
Residential architecture remains a cornerstone of the awards, with finalists across both new builds and alterations and additions. The Residential New category, sponsored by AWS for projects under $1 million and No1 Roofing for projects over $1 million, highlights sensitive, site-responsive design and innovation in domestic architecture.
