It’s not often you come across a chair that would be equally at home in a corporate, domestic, hospitality or commercial environment, but that’s exactly the kind of all-purpose versatility the All’essenza chair by Ton achieves.
First unveiled at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan, the All’essenza chair is the brainchild of Italian designer Alexander Gufler, the mind behind the iconic Merano collection, which has sold more than 500,000 pieces globally. Designed for renowned Czech furniture brand Ton, the chair continues Gufler’s relationship with the brand and their shared reputation for producing timeless hand-crafted furniture.

The stackable chair combines lightness of form, comfort and practicality for restaurants, hotels, offices and public interiors. Its clean silhouette, gently curved seat and backrest, balanced proportions, and multiple material and colour configurations create a universal chair for just about any interior context.
The collection includes solid beech, oak and American walnut timber options with a range of stains and colours available. There are also upholstered versions for extra comfort. With its various design options, the All’essenza follows the philosophy of Ton: combining traditional craft with the current needs of contemporary interiors.

The new model carries elements of two previous Gufler designs for Ton. From his Merano range, the All’essenza inherits visual lightness and ergonomic confidence; and from the La Zitta collection, it takes a calm simplicity of form. The result is a contemporary universal chair designed for long-term use.
Beyond its aesthetics, the chair is designed to withstand intensive everyday use in a wide range of contexts. Being lightweight and stackable, and with a discreet linking element, allows the chairs to be arranged in rows and efficiently moved around with ease. These practical features are particularly useful in flexible and adaptable environments, such as hotels, conference centres, restaurants and flexible workspaces, where layouts often change.
“All’essenza perfectly captures the direction Ton has been following for years,” says Milan Dostalík, CEO of Ton. “We create products that respect our craft tradition while responding to current market demands. This new model combines lightness of expression, high functionality, and the versatility expected today by architects and proprietors.”
The name All’essenza refers to the essence of design – stripping back unnecessary trimmings to focus on the fundamentals.
“When form reaches the right proportions and design is reduced to its essence, only the essence remains. All’essenza seeks balance between simplicity, comfort and timeless elegance,” says Alexander Gufler.

The All’essenza chair adds to the Ton portfolio of classic quality furniture, from the timeless bentwood silhouette of Michael Thonet Chair 14, which we’ve all undoubtedly seen (and sat on) in cafés across the world, to the casual sophistication of the Josef Hoffmann 811, which celebrates the combination of rattan and bentwood timber.
More than a distributor or stockist, Innerspace is the custodian of Ton’s story in Australia. Its curated showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth bring Ton’s expertise in steam-bent timber – crafted in the historic workshops of Bystřice pod Hostýnem in the Czech Republic for over 160 years – directly into local homes, hospitality venues and modern workspaces across Australia.
