Carme Pinós Melbourne University lecture

July 17, 2009

Free public lecture by Carme Pinós of Studio Carme Pinós, Barcelona.

Carme Pinós’ approach to architecture is based on the understanding that architecture is born out of observing and reading our surroundings and through this a dialogue is started.

Her belief is that ‘everything is a game of relationships, of interpretations and that architecture is always approached through the mind, with the reinterpretation of a demand, because without it there is no architecture.’

‘Architecture is born from a need – physical as well as spiritual. There are no established rules, just the ones that we discover as we understand our surroundings and what is requested. The formal game by which we materialize architecture follows the intentions set by ourselves after interpreting the program, understanding the context. We should be aware of the intentions so that the formal game won’t be empty.’
