Preshil: Borland Open Day

An open day and panel discussion exploring Kevin Borland’s work at Preshil School in Melbourne, and its renewed relevance today.

*A Space for Learning: Borland Open Day*

As part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of Preshil, the seven school buildings designed by Kevin Borland will be opened to the public on Sunday 5 June.

Kevin Borland was awarded the RAIA Bronze Medal in 1972 for his radical and playful buildings designed for Preshil, giving expression to Borland’s motto that “architecture is not for the faint-hearted”.

A panel discussion will be held in the Borland Hall, exploring the fascinating progress of designing and building these significant structures and discussing their renewed relevance today. Speakers include architects and Borland colleagues *Peter McIntyre* and *John Kenny*, and education and design specialists *Mary Featherston* and *Ben Cleveland*. A historical photo display will also be on show in the Borland Hall.

*Where*Preshil, the Margaret Lyttle Memorial School Arlington (Junior) Campus, 395 Barkers Road, Kew
*When* Sunday 5 May 12-5pm
*Panel Discussion* 2-3.15pm, Borland Hall, Preshil
*Cost* $10 per person, tickets available at the gate. Preshil families and Robin Boyd Foundation members free. All proceeds will support restoration of the Arlington campus.
