Melbourne’s Affordable Art Fair returns to the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton this May, bringing together 80 galleries and around 600 artists from across Australia.

First launched in London in 1999 and known globally as the Affordable Art Fair, the show takes place in Amsterdam, Brussels, Bristol, Milan, New York, Paris, Singapore and Melbourne – with the aim of making art more accessible. 2011 marks the seventh year the fair has taken place in Melbourne.

On show this year will be Printworks, a section of the fair where limited edition works by some of Australia’s leading artists will be created, along with Start – an exclusive space for emerging and unrepresented artists. New this year is Sculpt, giving larger, outdoor projects a launch pad – this will include a surprise pop-up street art campaign.
