A month-long festival celebrating the diverse and vibrant art community of Sydney, with bike tours, kids events, open studios, exhibitions, talks and speed-dating events.

Art Month Sydney returns for a second year in March 2011, with over 120 events and exhibitions being held at 80 participating venues across Sydney.

The festival celebrates the city’s contemporary visual arts scene, moving between different precincts each week. Week one encompasses Danks Street, Waterloo and Redfern; week two covers Marrickville, Newtown, Chippendale and the CBD; while week three events will take place in Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Potts Point. The final week of events celebrate the Paddington, Woollahra and Rushcutters Bay precinct.

As well as daily events, each Thursday the festival will host ‘Art After Work’ with late events running from 6-8pm at galleries in each precinct. The weekly Art Bar will then be open from 8pm at the following venues:
* Sullivan + Strumpf Fine Art (Thursday 3 March)
* The Ivy (Thursday 10 March)
* The Beresford (Thursday 17 March)
* The Australian Centre for Photography (Thursday 24 March)

*Art with kids* A children’s guide has been created this year, designed by 20 leading artists under the direction of Dinosaur Designs co-founder Liane Rossler with content editor Jennifer Blunden.

*Art by bike* Six guided bicycle tours will be offered each Saturday, touring the galleries of the focus precinct. The first tour is on Saturday 5 March. ["Full details here":http://artmonthsydney.com/_webapp_770754/ARTcycle_-_Danks_St,_Redfern_and_Waterloo].

*Art and conversation* The Creative Conversation event series brings together leading contemporary artists including Adam Cullen, Guy Maestri, Adam Laerkesen and Giles Alexander. Wednesday 16 & 23 March at the National Art School’s Cell Block Theatre. Tickets are $25. *Public Art* The Art Windows Project invites contemporary artists to create site-specific art installations, which will be on display in retail windows in the Potts Point precinct area all month. ["Full details here":http://artmonthsydney.com/_webapp_769433/The_Art_Windows_Project].

*Art and dating* Artist Speed Dating returns, offering 40 young artists the opportunity to pitch their work to some of Sydney’s leading gallerists in a speed dating forum, with a view to securing gallery representation.

The program also includes studio tours, art forums, exhibitions, lunch and dinner events.
