Tasmania: Ten Days On The Island

Tasmania’s vibrant international arts event, with a host of cultural events running for ten days at 111 venues across the state.

Tasmania’s state-wide biennial international arts event, Ten Days On The Island, will take place at venues across the state from 25 March until 3 April 2011.

Featuring international artists from island locations around the world as well as some of Australia’s finest artistic talents, the program includes theatre, dance, world and early music, chamber opera, exhibitions, installations, films and literature events.

The 2011 program includes 232 free and ticketed events across 111 venues in 62 locations across Tasmania.

The program features nearly 500 artists from the A to Z of island cultures – Aotearoa/New Zealand, Manhattan, Tahiti, Ireland, Cape Breton, Shetland Islands, Vancouver Island, Greek Isles, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, Trinidad & Tobago, Faroe Islands, Bora Bora, Bali, Haiti, Scotland, England, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Newfoundland, Wales, Japan, Montreal, Philippines, Iceland and Zanzibar.

Artistic Director Elizabeth Walsh has planned a ten days grand tour, allowing visitors to get the most out of the festival.
