An energy capturing bicycle wheel, a wind generator and a therapy device for cystic fibrosis sufferers will all be on display at the Swinburne University Product Design Engineering graduate exhibition.

‘inside out’ will showcase a range of final year projects from emerging product design engineers – a profession that integrates the technicality of engineering with the creativity of design. The engineers design from the ‘inside out’, engineering the product functionality first before focusing on user interaction and aesthetics.

The challenge in their final year is to collaborate with an industry partner to research and design a market-ready product that responds directly to a social need.

Results of these final year projects will be on display at the exhibition. Products include an educational tool for autistic children, a handheld drug testing device and injury-preventing supermarket shelving.

*When* Monday 6 December – Friday 10 December
*Where* Life.Lab (Level 3), Digital Harbour, 198 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands.
