Post Traumatic Urbanism, a new book investigating the after effects of conflict and natural disasters on urban areas and communities, launches at Architext in Sydney on 11 November.

Guest edited by UTS professors Adrian Lahoud, Charles Rice and Anthony Burke, it focuses on the reverberations of conflict, terror and natural catastrophes in urban spaces around the world. While repair and reconstruction are necessary reflexes, this book argues that architects need to examine the effect of these events on cities and their communities in order to understand whether to restore the city to it’s former incarnation, or whether to seize the opportunity for new possibilities.

Adrian Lahoud, Charles Rice and Anthony Burke will give a short introduction, followed by drinks and canapes.

*Where* Architext, 3 Manning St, Potts Point Sydney
*When* Thursday 11 November, 6.30pm

*Event is free*
