Nielson Design Lecture: Sir Peter Cook

September 17, 2010

The second Neilson Design Lecture features renowned architect and former Archigram member, Sir Peter Cook.

The second Nielson Design Lecture will be held at the State Library of Queensland on 6 October 2010, with guest speaker Sir Peter Cook.

Held as part of the Unlimited Festival, the Nielson Design Lecture Series aims to inspire creative thinking for the future development of the region’s built environment, with a particular focus on the possibilities of public design.

The lecture series provides an opportunity to further Brisbane’s leadership in the creative industries bringing together practitioners in the field of design; state and local government officials and politicians, as well as cultural industry enthusiasts and commentators.

Sir Peter Cook’s longstanding commitment to teaching architecture has secured his place as an innovative thinker and inspirational educator, and earned him a Knighthood in 2007 for services to architecture and education. Cook attracted international attention for his futurist visions of Britian’s built environment that were underpinned by utopian technology and a classless society in his early years as a member of the maverick architectural collective, Archigram.
