PARK(ing) Day

September 3, 2010

A global event encouraging city dwellers to transform the city parking lot into an urban park.

An annual, worldwide event encouraging city dwellers around the world to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks.

Taking place on Friday 17 September, the event calls attention to the need for more open space in urban areas, questioning how public space is created and allocated, and improving the quality of the urban environment… until the meter runs out!

Since the first year in 2005, when Rebar set up a temporary park in a parking spot in San Francisco, the day has become a global event highlighting the need for more open spaces in cities.
