May 3, 2010

A solo exhibition of work by furniture designer and maker, Laura McCusker, at ArtSpace in Hobart.

The Spaces In Between is the first solo exhibition of Laura McCusker’s work, showing in Hobart.

Laura McCusker is a furniture designer and maker, who was recently recognised as one of the top 25 object designers at the inaugural Faces of Design awards.

McCusker trained in fine woodwork, graduating in 1998. She was recently commissioned by architects Fender Katsalidis to produce a number of furniture pieces for the newly built MONA Pavilions at the Moorilla Estate in Hobart.

The exhibition features designs inspired by the MONA commissions, as well as other pieces from McCusker’s portfolio. The show is an opportunity to preview her contemporary designs, before she accepts an invitation to exhibit at Design:Made:Trade as part of Victoria’s State of Design festival (14-18 July, Royal Exhibition Building).

*When* 1 April – 20 May 2010. Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
