December 3, 2009

Stephen Kieran of internationally renowned practice, Kieran Timberlake, talks at the State Library of Victoria.

Public lecture given by architect and academic, Stephen Kieran, Director of internationally renowned practice Kieran Timberlake.

*Thursday 3 December 6.30-8pm*

328 Swanston Street, Melbourne 3000
Village Roadshow Theatrette
(entry via Latrobe Street next to Mr. Tulk cafe)

Kieran Timberlake’s work examines approaches to low energy, low environmental impact buildings of all types and sizes. The practice
explores ways to interweave sustainable design systems around the programs they support. This is exemplified by projects such as
Cellophane House, an offsite fabricated dwelling commissioned by the Museum of Modern Art’s exhibition Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling.

In 2003, KieranTimberlake published the book “refabricating ARCHITECTURE” (McGraw-Hill), which examines how manufacturing methodologies are poised to transform building construction. The premise of this book is based on the belief that architecture is not about style but about substance, and
the very methods and processes that underlie its making.
