As Australia’s ageing population increases (by 2096, 25 percent of Australia’s population will be 65 years old and over), so do the opportunities to radically reimagine aged care facilities and services.

To aid designers and architects entering the sector, ADR, in collaboration with Interstudio, has compiled a design checklist that provides useful information for creating innovative aged care facilities.

The resource looks at how to design for identity, happiness and independence, for family and visitors and for dementia.

It also includes a section that covers off some of the more technical and regulatory aspects associated with aged care design.
