Rolex Mentors and Protégés Programme

October 31, 2013

The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative was established in 2002 to make a contribution to global culture. The programme seeks out gifted young artists from around the globe and brings them together with artistic masters for a year of creative collaboration in a one-to-one mentoring relationship.

Earlier this month seven major artists were announced, each of whom will spend a year montoring an emerging talent in their respective fields. The mentors include Babel director Alejandro González Iñárritu (film), choreographer Alexei Ratmansky (dance) and The English Patient author Michael Ondaatje (literature). The program’s expert panel has begun a global search to identify the seven protégés to be paired with these masters.
