Vika collection

July 23, 2012

A new lounge chair with organic lines, created by Swedish designer Monica Förster for Bernhardt Design and available through KE-ZU.

Stockholm-based designer Monica Förster brilliantly captures the beauty of rivers carving through the land in northern Sweden in the undulating shape of her new Vika lounge chair.

The beauty of this design is found in the movement of the exterior line as it loops around the chair. It was crucial to the success of the piece that this curving line appears as effortless and spontaneous as it would in nature. Förster says of the design: “To achieve the perfect line, I ultimately hand shaped a single copper wire.”

Vika was designed by Förster for American manufacturer, Bernhardt Design. The chair’s tall, curving back creates a feeling of privacy without inhibiting conversation, making the piece ideal for grouping. The fibreglass shell allows for added comfort, with beautiful saddle stitching and a stainless steel base adding final details to the piece.

Vika comes standard in two versions: a high gloss white fiberglass exterior shell with a fabric or leather interior, or a model with a fully upholstered exterior and interior. Any combination of leather, vinyl or fabric can be selected, or it may be specified in Bernhardt Textiles collection.

Available through KE-ZU. Call 1300 724 174 or email info@kezu.com.au for further information.
