Falls the Shadow: From idea to reality. The National Gallery of Australia.

With its title taken from T. S. Elliot’s The Hollow Men, this book tells the story of passion, contradiction and even melodrama behind one of Australia’s most contentious and important modernist icons: the National Gallery of Australia. The book features 11 critical essays by a range of voices from the Australian architecture community, including Daryl Jackson, Richard Goodwin, Angelo Candalepas and Jennifer Taylor, as well as original photography from Max Dupain, David Moore and Guy Madigan. It also includes a portfolio of drawings made by Col Madigan over a 20-year period in his attempt (ultimately of limited success) to participate in the alterations, extensions and revisions to the gallery by a succession of NGA Directors.

The book is both a celebration of a magnificent building, and an appeal for its future protection.
