Japanese for ‘shadow, shadiness and nuance’, the ‘IN-EI’ range is one of the latest lighting ranges from Artemide in collaboration with the inimitable Issey Miyake.

Using strong three-dimensional geometry, the IN-EI range diffuses light through the statuesque forms made of 100 per cent recycled material – a re-treated fibre made from PET bottles processed using technology that reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 40 per cent when compared with the production of newer materials. To further the collection’s sustainability credentials, the lights use LED technology in their designs.

Light and shade work together in each design, alternating harmoniously from within the complex frame to create a sleek and elegant aesthetic that is unmistakably ‘Miyake’. Spanning freestanding, table and pendant designs, what surprises about the collection is each light’s ability to perfectly retain its shape without an internal frame, thanks to precise folding technology as well as an additional surface treatment.

The IN-EI range was launched at this year’s Milan Furniture Fair, and is available exclusively at Artemide’s Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney showrooms.
