Butter Chair

August 7, 2013

Sydney design studio, DesignByThem, adds the Butter Chair to its seating collection made from recycled plastic.

The Butter Chair is the latest in the Butter seating collection produced by Sydney design studio, DesignByThem.

Like the Butter Stool, Butter Bench and Butter Seat previously launched by the studio, the Butter Chair is made from 100 per cent recycled content – 70 per cent of which is post-consumer waste, mainly derived from recycled milk containers and factory waste. The company also offers a product stewardship program, taking back products to be either repaired, reused or recycled.

Shipped flat-packed, the chair is made from two pieces that are screwed together – meaning the chairs can be specified as a two-colour option. Sturdy and with a weight similar to that of a solid timber chair, the collection features a textured surface and is available in eight colours: white, beige, grey, blue, green, red, orange and yellow.

DesignByThem was established in 2006 by Sarah Gibson and Nick Karlovasitis. Functional and playful, the DesignByThem collection includes furniture, lighting and accessories.
