Semplice table lamp

May 16, 2013

British designer, Sam Hecht, displays his characteristic formal simplicity in Semplice, a new table lamp designed for Oluce.

Formal simplicity is the order of the day in Semplice, a new table lamp manufactured by Oluce. The piece is the first collaboration between British industrial designer Sam Hecht, founder of Industrial Facility, and the Italian lighting brand.

In Semplice, Hecht has abandoned the form of the typical table lamp: the base and the stem have vanished, leaving behind what appears to be a single light source with a metal shade that seemingly floats mid-air.

The main structure of Semplice is, in fact, a transparent, blown glass shade, which sits atop the galvanised and glazed metal shade. A plaited metal cable and a rotating dimmer on top of the lamp hold the different elements together.

Designed by Sam Hecht for Oluce, and available in Australia through Euroluce.
