Samba pendant light

September 17, 2012

Sydney designer Brad Stebbing launches a new lighting collection with Kenneth Cobonpue’s HIVE.

Samba is a new pendant light from Sydney designer Brad Stebbing for Kenneth Cobonpue’s lighting and accessories brand, HIVE.

Since winning the Ke-Zu/HIVE lighting design competition in 2008, Stebbing has been working with Cobonpue’s Philippines-based design company, Design by Hive. Samba is his second collection for the brand, and follows on from Bud – a collapsible outdoor light.

Inspired by swaying samba hips, the new collection includes a number of different shapes, each with its own seductive, curving form. The lights are hand-crafted from coiled rattan rods. Inside, the detail of the rattan structure gives the shades an intriguing textured look, which contrasts with the glossy sheen of the lacquered exterior.

The Samba collection is available in black, white, aqua blue and yellow.

Samba was launched this September at Maison & Objet in Paris. Now available in Australia through Ke-Zu.
