The Hirameki Collection

July 30, 2012

Fashion designer Akira Isogawa and Designer Rugs partner to launch their third collection, this time inspired by Isogawa’s international travels.

Fashion designer Akira Isogawa has partnered with Designer Rugs to launch the Hirameki collection, meaning ‘Inspiration’. Hirameki is the third collaboration between Isogawa and Designer Rugs, following on from the limited edition collection in 2005 and the Kisetsu range in 2007.

Blending a traditional Japanese aesthetic with bold colour, this latest collection is inspired by Isogawa’s current catwalk collection. More ornate than his previous design, Hirameki features international influences drawn from fabrics sourced during his travels.

The collection includes Ayame and Kiku, inspired by silk block kimono fabric and traditional Japanese floral motifs; Shibori, featuring a floral and wave motif; and Batik, inspired by Bali’s traditional batik dyeing technique.

Each rug in the collection is handmade using New Zealand wool, to a standard size of 200x300cm, with two designs available as round rugs (250cm diameter). The designs can also be custom coloured and sized to suit any commercial or residential interior.
