Woven fruit bowl

October 11, 2011

A lightweight and elegant fruit bowl made using traditional weaving techniques, designed by Dennis Abalos.

Woven is an organic fruit bowl made from natural materials, designed by Sydney-based industrial designer Dennis Abalos.

Woven is a light and elegant piece, which aims to bring an aspect of nature into the home. The design combines the traditional craft of weaving with a modern aesthetic, producing a delicate and understated object. The piece features a rattan round core with abaca rope, and a steel wire frame.

The open weave of the bowl allows air to circulate and preserve the fruit inside the bowl, while the curving form allows fruit to sit easily and stably inside the vessel.

Woven has been shortlisted for the 2011 Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Awards.
