Benjamin Hubert’s hand-turned marble pendant light, designed for De La Espada and launched at the London Design Festival.

Quarry is a new pendant light created by British industrial designer Benjamin Hubert for Portuguese brand, De La Espada.

Made from hand-turned marble, the pendants celebrate the story of stone quarrying and the transformation from first cut to polished end result. The thin-walled pendant features a smooth exterior, while the interior surface is left with a rough finish, the edges made by the cutting tool still visible.

The design also reveals the translucent marble surface, with the veining of the stone appearing when the light is on. Inside, an LED allows the internal cavity to remain open and uncluttered.

Quarry was launched at the Tramshed at London Design Festival 2011, and is one of five pieces launched in collaboration with De La Espada.
