Tonkin Zulaikha Greer (TZG) has won the Australia Award for Urban Design for its Paddington Reservoir Gardens project, together with James Mather Delaney Design and the City of Sydney.
As the judges citation described, “The success of this small but beautiful project is demonstrated by the interest and excitement expressed on the faces of those visiting the park the ultimate reward for any project developer and their urban design team.”
Another Award also went to the City of Melbourne and Victorian Department of Transport for their research project, Transforming Australian Cities, while a commendation was given to the City of Sydney for their Sustainable Sydney 2030 The Vision, an urban design framework for Sydney.
Hosted by the Planning Institute of Australia, the award is considered to be one of Australia’s most prestigious accolades in the realm of urban design. The winners were announced on Tuesday 11 August by the Hon. Peter Garrett AM, MP (on behalf of the Prime Minister, who is patron of the Award) at the opening of the 3rd annual Built Environment Meets Parliament summit in Canberra.
