The competition is open to architects and interior designers aged between 18 and 30 working in all styles and genres: functional, experimental, conceptual, furniture, appliances, accessories, objects, ideas, innovations – and everything in between. The grants program, established nine years ago, is designed to offer funding to emerging talent in fields spanning photography, filmmaking, music, design, fashion and the written word.
The opportunity to further your career with travel, cash and a professional mentorship is on offer. The winner will receive $5,000 in Qantas flights, $5,000 in cash and a 12 month mentorship under the guidance of internationally respected architect, Brian Zulaikha.
Zulaikha founded the award-winning Tonkin Zulaikha Greer architecture firm and is chairman of the committee responsible for Australia’s representation in the Venice Architecture Biennale.
2013 is the second year the Architecture and Interior Design category has featured in the SOYA program. The inaugural winner was architect and furniture designer, Tomek Archer.
