Smart Light Sydney is an interactive event for both members of the public and the international design community. The event celebrates and displays the possibilities offered by low energy and smart lighting products through a number of innovative and exciting light installations and events.
Highlighting the event will be the free night Light Walk, showcasing beautiful and dynamic light art sculptures on a self-guided walk around Sydney’s iconic harbour front precincts.
This year’s Light Walk welcomes internationally renowned musician and multimedia artist Brian Eno, who will light up the Sydney Opera House sails with an amazing light art design.
Smart Light Sydney also encompasses Art Light Exhibition, a two-day Smart Light Symposium at the University of Technology Sydney and Licht, an orchestral and light art interpretation of composer Stockhasen’s work at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Smart Light Sydney coincides with the official phase out of inefficient light bulbs in Australia, as directed by the Federal Government in addition to the 2009 Celebration of Astronomy – celebrating darker skies through reduced light pollution and photon wastage.
