Niche Media is proud to announce the appointment of two new magazine editors in its architectural division: Michael Holt for Architectural Review Asia Pacific and Alexa Kempton for Inside magazine.
Originally hailing from the UK, Michael has contributed to a number of architecture and design publications including Editoriale Domus, Metropolis magazine, Blueprint magazine, Architecture Australia, Architectural Review (UK) and Columbia University’s C-Lab. His contributions to Editorale Domus have received widespread recognition, and alongside his role as editor Michael will be lecturing and teaching at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Recently relocating from New York City, where he was a practising architect for Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Michael has practised extensively both in the UK and the US. A graduate of the post-professional Advanced Architectural Design master’s degree at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, Michael has also taught history and theory seminars and design studios at Manchester School of Architecture (2007-9) and Columbia University (2009-10).
As editor, Michael aims to develop and promote the digital aspects of architectural publication, and in his writing strives “to introduce a new form of criticality that is both incisive and analytical”.
Also hailing from the UK but having been based in Melbourne since 2009, former Australian Design Review online editor, Alexa Kempton, has been promoted to the role of editor for Inside magazine. Since graduating from the University of Warwick in the UK with an Art History degree, Alexa has accrued seven years’ experience as an editor. Alexa began work at Phaidon Press in London as a trainee before joining the Architecture and Design editorial team as editorial assistant and eventually as junior editor.
Following her move to Melbourne in 2009, Alexa spent three years as editor of Australian Design Review – the online entity for both Inside and Architectural Review magazines. From early 2011, Alexa began regularly contributing to Inside magazine.
Alexa is pleased to be taking over the reins at Inside magazine, and looks forward to working with Niche Media’s architectural division to develop both the print and digital sides of the publication.
Taking over Alexa’s former role as online editor of Australian Design Review is Sara Lewis.
