Designers wanted for WE BUILD India

In 2010, WE BUILD will bring together designers from Australia and India in a collaborative project to design a sustainable masterplan for migrant workers in Bangalore, India.

Urban migration is a pressing issue in India’s third most populous city. [co]design studio have been invited to develop a sustainable masterplan for a precinct for migrant workers. The masterplan will provide a school for the children of the workers, as well as housing, a global learning centre, playgrounds and more.

Global Citizens for Sustainable Development have invited [co]design to work alongside designers from India to develop innovative and ways of creating a sustainable precinct for migrant works, and ultimately getting kids back to school.

As part of WE BUILD, [co]design will be hosting a studio workshop together with the design team from India, in Bangalore from 4-22 August 2010. This studio is the first in a series of five as the project is progressively designed and built over the next five years.

The studio is seeking designers to join their creative team. They are interested in designers from a variety of backgrounds including architecture, landscape architecture, planning and urban design as well as other complimentary disciplines.

There will also be a pre-departure training workshop in Melbourne from 5-7 June, to lay the framework with design preparation, preliminary sketch design, cross cultural training and international development practice.
