The shortlist has been announced for this year’s World Architecture Festival awards, with 256 projects selected from 55 different countries.

Twenty-five Australian projects are among those shortlisted, and will now compete to win one of fifteen awards for World Building of the Year.

BVN Architecture has had five projects shortlisted: the Goods Shed North redevelopment in Melbourne; The Academy, the head office for NAB, also in Melbourne; the Brain and Mind Research Institute – Youth Mental Health Building in Camperdown; and two residential projects, The Ivy in Brisbane and Boolarong and Kinkabool in North Stradbroke Island.

Three recent designs by HASSELL were also named on the list: the Adelaide Zoo Entrance Precinct; the ANZ Centre in Melbourne; and the Epping to Chatswood Rail Link in Sydney.

Other nominations included McBride Charles Ryan’s [“Fitzroy High School”:https://www.australiandesignreview.com/projects/17515-Fitzroy-High-School-McBride-Charles-Ryan] and the Letterbox House; Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp’s [“Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney”:https://www.australiandesignreview.com/design_wall/12554-Faculty-of-Law-Library-and-Teaching-Complex-The-University-of-Sydney-Francis-Jones-Morehen-Thorp] and the [“Surry Hills Library and Community Centre”:https://www.australiandesignreview.com/design_wall/12618-Surry-Hills-Library-and-Community-Centre-Francis-Jones-Morehen-Thorp]; and Cox Rayner’s Ipswich Justice Precinct and the Marina Point Yacht Club.
