Open House Melbourne appoints Emma Telfer as creative director

February 10, 2015

Following her success as the association’s marketing communications consultant, Telfer takes the reins in shaping the program’s future creative direction.

Open House Melbourne have appointed Emma Telfer to the role of creative director following her success as the organisation’s marketing communications consultant.

With its first program having started in 2008, Open House Melbourne is a not-for-profit association springing from an initiative by the Committee for Melbourne’s ‘Future Focus Group’.

By opening up over 100 buildings to public view, Open House hopes to facilitate a transfer of knowledge about Melbourne’s cultural and architectural offerings. “Through exposure to these spaces,” Open House Melbourne’s website describes, “people learn about their city and its culture, the work of others and crucially, the impact of good design.”

Telfer founded and is a partner of the Office for Good Design, a curatorial group that recently produced the MMeets public program for this year’s MPavilion – a summer architecture pavilion presented by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation and the City of Melbourne.

Telfer also sits on Melbourne’s Australian Performing Arts Collection Committee and is a board member of NETS (National Exhibitions Touring Support) and Liquid Architecture Festival.

“I’m pleased to welcome Emma to her new role,” Open House Melbourne’s CEO Paul Gurney says, “a role that acknowledges her significant contribution to the organisation’s creative vision over the past five years. I look forward to working collaboratively with Emma to continue Open House’s growth as a significant cultural event for Melbourne.”

The Open House Melbourne weekend returns in 2015 on 25 and 26 July and will be supported by a program that runs throughout the year.
