Regional Qld & NSW Architecture Awards 2014 announced

This year’s awards constituted ten regional awards and four special awards including a new category – Regional Building of the Year.

The 2014 Gold Coast & Northern Rivers Regional Architecture Awards have been recently announced at Dreamworld and the Big Brother House. The entries included a range of projects including interior, urban, private homes, commercial and multiple housing projects, sport, health and community facilities.

This year’s awards constituted ten regional awards and four special awards including a new category – Regional Building of the Year, recognising the best regional project designed by a local architect. The winning projects from the Regional Commendation category will now vie for the state awards, the 2014 Queensland Architecture Awards, to be announced in Brisbane on 20 June 2014.

A panel of judges from the Australian Institute of Architects selected the winners out of sixteen entries. The jury included: Liam Proberts (Bureau Proberts), Paul Uhlmann (Paul Uhlmann Architects), David Brown (Sunland Group), Katherine Rickard (Mode Design), Chris Gee (Coast Arc), Catherine Baudet (Ferrier Baudet Architects), Mark Jones (Woods Bagot) and Paul Curran (PUSH).

Here’s the list of this year’s winners:

Building of the Year: Abedian School of Architecture (Robina) – CRAB Studio

House of the Year: Dolphin Court Residence (Palm Beach) – ME

Regional Building of the Year: Capri on Via Roma (Surfers Paradise) – BDA Architecture

Enduring Architecture: Sheraton Mirage (Gold Coast) – DBI Design (formerly Media 5)

Regional Commendations:
Abedian School of Architecture (Robina) – CRAB Studio
Capri on Via Roma (Surfers Paradise) – BDA Architecture
Dolphin Court Residence (Palm Beach) – ME
