November 28, 2013

Applications for its Master of Interior Architecture & Retail Design (MIARD) are being sought by the Piet Zwart Institute.

The Piet Zwart Institute is currently seeking applications for its Master of Interior Architecture & Retail Design (MIARD), a two-year full time international postgraduate programme offered by the Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam University.

The MIARD programme champions interior design as a multidisciplinary practice, ensuring that students will be exposed to a range of strategies and techniques in order to develop a comprehensive professional skill set. As well as a strongly practical focus, the course is approached from an engaging academic perspective, looking at interior design as a product of a changing contemporary culture.

Projects are created with the support and guidance of a faculty of industry professionals, including architects, interior architects, designers and scholars. Notable guest lecturers from diverse design fields will also feature as a valuable aspect of the learning process and ongoing industry connection. MIARD promotes students’ networking opportunities and entrepreneurial pursuits, in order to complement training and career preparation.

Students at MIARD will undertake four Thematic Design Projects as core subjects over the course of their two-year study, with themes related to interior architecture and broader design disciplines. One of the four subjects is allocated to Retail Design, providing students with a greater specialization in this field. The MIARD curriculum encourages debate, reflection and exploration and aims to give students the skills to appreciate and direct their work within a large and competitive industry.

The deadline for applications is January 31 2014.
