Tony Parker at Instyle

November 13, 2013

In a revival of Australian Mid-Century design, Workshopped has re-released locally designed furniture by Tony Parker.

Locally designed furniture by Tony Parker has been re-released by Workshopped.

Manufactured in Sydney by Covermore Designs, whose craftspeople were employed previously by Tony Parker, the collection brings an original early 60s aesthetic to a contemporary audience. All furniture is available in a range of timbers and upholstered in a palette of muted tones, with traditional Mid-Century silhouettes to complement modern interiors.

Tony Parker’s furniture is made to order, reducing the wasteful practice of unnecessary mass production. This more direct relationship between supply and demand allows for a return to a small-scale local manufacture industry that yields higher quality furniture, the antithesis of cheaper goods currently flooding the market.

The Tony Parker range champions our local furniture industry, and is a welcome presence in an industry largely dominated by the appeal of imported international brands. The collection is now on display in Melbourne at the InStyle Showrooms.
