TEAGUE and MADA launch new PhD Design Research Scholarship

November 12, 2013

TEAGUE and MADA’s new PhD Design Research Scholarship aims to explore how aircraft interiors may be more effectively designed to improve the travel experience.

Monash University Art Design & Architecture (MADA) has announced a unique studio-based PhD in partnership with TEAGUE. The scholarship presents a rare opportunity for the recipient to undertake research in the aerospace design sector.

The aim of this studio-based PhD is to explore how environments or systems of aircraft interiors may be more effectively designed to improve the travel experience. The successful candidate will investigate the factors that influence this topic, conducting in-depth research, developing new knowledge and creating the resultant informed design. Ultimately, the design output may feature in aircraft produced in 2025, meaning the candidate must also anticipate technological developments and user-behaviour of the future.

The PhD Design Research Scholarship is a three-year full-time position with the successful candidate to split their time between MADA in Melbourne and TEAGUE in Seattle, US. The scholarship recipient will be awarded $75,000 tax-free and gain a rare chance to work with the best of the best in this highly competitive industry.
