Create Design Awards recognise Signage & Display design

April 26, 2013

Now in its ninth year, Desktop magazine’s Create Design Awards have added a new category, Signage & Display.

The Create Design Awards program, presented by Desktop magazine and now in its ninth year, will be held in Sydney for the very first time on Friday 1 November at the Ivy. The program celebrates the best in Australian graphics, illustration, type, photography & digital design.

Last year, over 1,000 entries were received and included work from some of Australia’s largest brands and agencies. This year is expected to be even bigger, with many entries already submitted. A new category, Signage and Display, offers an avenue for designers in the architecture and interiors sectors to get involved.

The Signage & Display category recognises excellence in printed graphics and displays for the purpose of signage, large-scale posters, wayfinding, exhibition graphics, installations, interiors, retail display and shopfronts. Judges will consider effectiveness, innovation, use of materials, consideration of spatial context and aesthetic qualities.

Material specifications: Images of the completed project, including images showing its context and physical execution must be supplied for judging. Images must be mounted onto either A4 or A3 boards (maximum of five). A disc must also be supplied with a maximum of five images of the project. These must be provided in two folders labelled ‘high-res’ and ‘low-res’.
