Hassell’s centrepiece for Melb Food & Wine Festival

February 15, 2013

Hassell have designed the Urban Coffee Farm and Brew Bar for the 2013 Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, opening 1 March.

Young designers at Hassell have designed the centrepiece for this year’s Melbourne Food & Wine Festival – the Urban Coffee Farm and Brew Bar – running from 1 to 17 March.

The ‘Red Stairs’, a popular public amphitheatre on the banks of Melbourne’s River Yarra, will be transformed with the help of 125 coffee trees into a terraced coffee ‘farm’ and abstract jungle. Shipping containers, timber pallets and packing crates will all reference the journey coffee beans take from growth to consumption.

In bringing to life the story of coffee, the Urban Coffee Farm and Brew Bar aims to make coffee drinkers think about the process – its origins, production and transport.
