Renew Newcastle calls for proposals

January 7, 2013

Urban renewal initiative Renew Newcastle is now calling for proposals for projects to take place in otherwise empty spaces in Newcastle’s CBD.

Urban renewal initiative Renew Newcastle is now calling for proposals for projects to take place in otherwise empty spaces in Newcastle’s CBD, with a deadline of Tuesday 22 January.

Aiming to bring activity to otherwise empty properties in Newcastle, Renew Newcastle brokers temporary access to these spaces to allow art projects, creative enterprise or community activities to flourish.

Commencing early this year, Renew Newcastle will temporarily occupy 2–6 new properties while the owners await longer-term, rent-paying tenants or possible redevelopment. The properties are suitable for a number of uses, including: office space for creative industries (i.e. emerging designers and architects, photographers and web developers), studio space for clean and quiet arts practice (i.e. digital media, photography, visual arts), retail space for designer-makers and gallery space.
