February 22, 2011

Experience the serenity of the Bonnie Doon holiday home made famous in Australian film classic ‘The Castle’.

The two-bedroom house that was used as a holiday home in Australian film ‘The Castle’ is currently up for sale.

The lakeside home in northeast Victoria’’s Bonnie Doon sits 500 metres from a boat ramp onto Lake Eildon, and boasts an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area that opens onto the famous verandah –– complete with mozzie zapper.

The shack was used as the Kerrigan family’’s holiday home in Rob Stitch’’s 1997 film ‘The Castle’ which featured Michael Caton as Darryl Kerrigan –– an ordinary Melbourne man fighting to protect his family home from developers. The Kerrigan’’s holiday home in Bonnie Doon was the family’’s retreat, offering serenity, water sports, views of the power lines and a backyard for kickboxing practice.

The property is on the market for $188,000 and is for sale through agents RT Edgar. The agent says the shack would make a great holiday home and accommodation business.
