Michael Bryce announced as patron of the Australian Design Alliance.

The Australian Design Alliance has announced architect and designer Michael Bryce as its patron.

The Alliance aims to boost Australia’s productivity, sustainability and innovation through design. It is currently working towards a national design policy that will prioritise the role of design in public policy and economic growth.

Launched in September 2010, the Australian Design Alliance is a new body representing a broad cross section of national design, with twelve member/observer organisations including the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA), Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and Craft Australia.

Michael Bryce, an architect and designer recognised for his contribution to graphic, urban and environmental design, said of the organisation: “The Alliance is the beginning of a voice that could lift this country from its dependence on other people’s ideas, from its apathy about the built environment, from a sense of us lagging behind in the innovation and creativity spectrum that some significant countries… have already established.”
