Channel Nine launches new design-focused reality TV show, Top Design, to be hosted by Jamie Durie.

The Nine Network has launched a new reality TV show called Top Design, which will be aired from April 2011.

The show “celebrates the unique skills of those who enjoy designing, renovating or just simply making over their home,” and is set to be hosted by landscape designer and TV personality Jamie Durie.

The Nine Network and production company Granada Media are currently looking for contestants to feature in the show. Producers want to hear from renovators, stylists and interior decorators who believe they can make a room spectacular. The selected contestants will then compete in weekly design challenges in order to win the competition.

A Channel Nine statement explains: “Australia’s guru of lifestyle television Jamie Durie… will take viewers on a journey, searching the country to find people from all walks of life who are passionate about design and renovation. Over several weeks our contestants will face a series of elimination challenges to create visual masterpieces in this exciting new makeover show. The series winner will win a major cash prize.” Filming for the first series is expected to begin in April 2011.

The program will be the latest design-themed reality show offering from Channel Nine to be hosted by Durie, whose previous TV ventures include The Outdoor Room, Australia’s Best Backyards, Backyard Blitz and last year’s The Block.

Good show, interesting, but people are over the suspense that survivor had 10 years ago of “who’s going home”. who cares!
It has to be about the design not the character to last as a show.

I reckon that the show is pretty good, but i do believe that the judge’s are really harsh on the words they say to the contestants.
