Miele appliances at Greenhouse by Joost

March 14, 2012

Miele’s philosophy for sustainability goes on show at the 2012 Greenhouse by Joost in Melbourne.

This year’s Greenhouse by Joost, currently open on Melbourne’s Southbank as part of the 2012 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, once again features Miele appliances in the Greenhouse’s kitchen.

The Greenhouse, a project created and run by Joost Bakker, is a waste-free pop-up restaurant designed to encourage patrons to consider a more sustainable lifestyle. Housed inside repurposed shipping containers, the living, breathing building features plants growing on its facade and roof, with the building fabric and furniture made from recycled, reclaimed and recyclable materials.

As in the previous two incarnations of Greenhouse by Joost, Miele appliances have once again been incorporated into the current site. A range of Miele’s innovative, energy efficient products have been utilised in the project – including induction cooktops, built-under rangehoods, a washing machine, heat pump dryer and two professional dishwashers.

The water and energy savings of the dishwashers and laundry products are in keeping with Bakker’s philosophy for reducing our environmental impact. The Miele W 5741 washing machine has been awarded 4½ WELS water efficiency and energy ratings, while the Miele T 8827 heat pump dryer has a 6 star energy efficiency rating.

Greenhouse by Joost is open from 2-21 March 2012 at Queensbridge Square, Southbank, Melbourne.
