Luis Mansilla, director of Spanish architecture firm Mansilla y Tuñón, passes away aged 52.

Luis Mansilla of Spanish architecture practice Mansilla y Tuñón has died, age 52, of causes unknown.

As reported by El Pais, his business partner and friend Emilio Tuñón found Mansilla dead in his hotel room in Barcelona early yesterday morning, Central European Time.

Normally based in Madrid, Mansilla y Tuñón had been in Barcelona to present a recently completed book on the late Enric Miralles.

Mansilla leaves behind two daughters and his wife, the painter Carmen Pinart.

Mansilla was in Australia last year for the 2011 Australian Institute of Architects’ National Architecture Conference, Natural Artifice. Read David Neustein’s interview with Luis Mansilla here.
