Campo Baeza to visit Australia in 2012

Celebrated Spanish architect Alberto Campo Baeza will visit Australia in March for the AIA’s International Speaker Series.

Spanish architect Alberto Campo Baeza will be in Australia this March for the Australian Institute of Architects’ (AIA) International Speaker Series.

Madrid-based Campo Baeza will give three talks at venues in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, discussing his award-winning projects, which are characterised by purist and minimalist volumes.

In over 40 years of practice, Campo Baeza has an extensive portfolio of residential and commercial work, with celebrated projects including the Headquarters of the Caja de Granada (2001), the De Blas House in Madrid (2000) and the Museum of the Memory of Andalucía in Granada (2009). He has also taught extensively at universities in Europe and the USA.

Campo Baeza has received numerous awards for his architectural work, including theFirst Award for the Spanish Pavilion at the 2000 Venice Biennale; the Award of the Bienal Miami in 2000; the COAM Award (2002) for his De Blas House in Madrid’s Sevilla La Nueva; the COAB Award (2003) for the Centre BIT in Majorca, the COAAO Award (2003) and Eduardo Torroja Award (2003) for the Headquarters of the Caja de Granada and the Award Architecture in Stone for the Almeria Offices.

Campo Baeza will be giving three talks in early March at the following locations:
Sydney Tuesday 6 March. Footbridge Theatre, University of Sydney
Melbourne Wednesday 7 March. Spot Basement Theatre, University of Melbourne
Perth Thursday 8 March. Octagon Theatre, University of Western Australia
