The Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) has announced the recipients of the 2010 Architectural Design Awards, Singapore’s most prestigious architectural awards program.

The awards, now in their 10th cycle, recognise the achievements of SIA members, encouraging architects to push the boundaries with innovative solutions.

Singaporean-Australian practice WOHA Architects received four awards, including the Design Award in the Industrial, Transport & Infrastructure Projects category for their Bras Basah Mass Rapid Transit Station in Singapore.

WOHA also received Honourable Mention in the Commercial Projects and Interior Architecture categories for their Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali, Indonesia; as well as Honourable Mention for NOMU, Singapore in the Building of the Year category.

The Building of the Year Design Award was presented to Vivanta by Taj (Whitefield, Bangalore) by Warner Wong Design | WOW Architects in collaboration with Spazzio Design Architecture.

Vivanta by Taj also won the Design Awards in the Interior Architecture and Commercial Project categories.

SIA President, Mr Ashvinkumar, commended the high standards of the entries to this year’s awards, adding that it was encouraging to see so many young practices submitting their work.

30 entries were selected from 181 submissions. Spread across six categories, 11 Design Awards were presented while 18 projects were awarded with Honourable Mentions.

Many of the awarded projects will feature in the ArchiTours event, one of the features of the annual ArchiFest organised in October by the SIA.
