Newly created Interior Design Associate/Director role

Suit Architect with Interiors experience, or Interior Designer

A young yet well-established architectural practice sees an exciting opportunity to expand their services to their corporate clients who have been requesting interior design services in the commercial sector. You will be working alongside their Directors to help lead the setting of their design benchmarks and the direction of the practice in interior design.

This is a unique opportunity for a rising star to accelerate their career. They are one of the busiest smaller practices in Sydney, and boast collaboration with major practices on premium projects across a wide variety of sectors. Currently at 25 to 30 staff, they are looking to double that number, and then expand into other markets eventually.

They are searching Australia for the stand-out candidate already at Associate Director or Director level, or who is blocked by an incumbent manager from rising to head the Interior Design division of their current practice. You may be feeling frustrated by being stymied from gaining further promotion in the foreseeable future, or seeking a consistent workload of large or more complex and diverse projects. You will have demonstrated – or have the apparent potential – to lead a team of designers and effectively manage the business development of an Interior Design department.

You are a genuine original thinker, one who researches the problem in detail before starting on preparing design solutions. Creative thinking outside of traditional design methods is essential in this role. This role demands an agile concept designer whose strong design processes and proposals will create confidence in your commercial and organizational clients, who trust your judgment.

You will benefit by joining a company with a genuinely blue chip roster of clients and a steady workload that has seen them avoid staff churn during these tough times. This Associate Director or Director of Interior Design role is a newly created role in an area where they are currently partially active but does not presently have a Director solely dedicated to expanding the business.

Ideally you will have designed in a wide range of large projects including commercial, health, and government.

This role will suit either an Interior Designer, or an Architect with substantial experience in interior design in the commercial sector.

Salary package is commensurate with skills and experience.
